My Daily Blush: Tom Ford Éclat Nu
Product: Tom Ford Soleil Sheer Cheek Duo — 02 Éclat Nu (.15oz/4.4g)
How often I use it: 5–7×/week.
How long I’ve had it: First purchased April 2022 ($76.93); purchased a new compact April 2025 ($90) but haven’t had to open it, yet.
My skin type and tone
I have combo, sensitive skin and large pores. I also have some redness, so I’m picky about blushes because some of them make me feel like I’m adding back the redness that I just covered with my foundation.
I have a light-medium skintone that looks darker than it is because of the underlying redness (no matter how much sunscreen I wear). Because of this, I opt for foundation shades that are on the lighter side to help match my face to my neck.
My foundation shades (for reference):
Chanel SUBLIMAGE L’ESSENCE DE TEINT in B20
Chanel Les Beiges Water Fresh Tint in Medium Light
NARS Light Reflecting Foundation in Deauville (previously used)
Why this blush became my daily blush
I wanted a color that would make me look alive and healthy without emphasizing redness or pores. The Tom Ford Sheer Cheek Duo in Éclat Nu does exactly that. The texture is smooth, it blends easily, and the finish has a soft sheen. Over time it replaced all my other blushes because it is so easy to use, looks natural, and works with almost all of my makeup. It also lasts a long time—I bought a backup because I thought I’d run out earlier last year when I started to hit pan, but the original is still going. I’ll probably move it to my vacation stash and start the new one soon.
The packaging
The compact is small, sturdy, and thin. It’s shiny gold on the inside and a glossy white on the outside. It’s slightly curved in a way that somehow feels luxe and cozy at the same time. The compact itself is really well-made. It shows almost no signs of wear or damage after almost four years despite moving twice, taking it on many vacations, and using it almost every day. I store it in the little pouch that it came with, which might have helped to protect it a little.
The front of the compact used for 4 years (left) and the back of the unused compact (right). There is no wear on the older compact; it looks and feels just as nice as the new one.
The blush comes with a white protective pouch (left) and is quite a bit smaller than the gold packaging box that it comes in (right).
The shades and swatches
Indoor swatches (looks warmer than it looks in real life).
Shaded outdoor swatches (looks more matte than it looks in real life).
Outdoor direct sunlight swatches (looks the most accurate to how the shades look in real life). The shimmer particles in the top and mixed swatches are catching the light more than they do in person. I can’t actually see any shimmer on my cheeks when I wear it.
Top shade: Blushy beigy-nude with a subtle shimmer that looks more like a satin-sheen in most lighting. The shimmer is mainly only visible in direct sunlight.
Bottom shade: Strawberry-ish pink that is mostly matte, but not flat or chalky.
Mixed together (how I usually wear it): a soft peachy glow that’s brightening, but very natural. It looks like a healthy flush and doesn’t lean too warm or too cool on me. The direct sunlight swatches capture it best — the mixed shade looks so natural on my arm.
Pigment and finish: It’s light, but buildable. A couple back and forth passes in the pans and then some swirls on my cheeks is all I usually need. The “sheerness” aspect helps with making it easy to blend, but the color definitely shows up and can be built up to be even brighter.
Blend and texture: The powder is very smooth and blends with almost no effort. It doesn’t emphasize pores, dryness, or cling to texture on me. Even when I add more to get a brighter color, it never looks powdery or cakey.
How I apply it
I use the IT Brush for Ulta Airbrush Essential Kabuki #145. It’s a little big for the compact, but the larger head makes it easy to swirl across both pans at once. I like the short handle, and I’m not overly precise with my blush placement, so the large brush head works for me.
After sweeping the brush back and forth a couple times in both shades, I swirl it in little circular motions onto my face—cheekbones to temples, sometimes a little across the nose, and the tiniest bit on the top of my forehead when I want a sun‑kissed look. I use this blush a little more like a bronzer.
Wear time and longevity
Longevity: all day (~8 hours) on me.
Fade: even—no patchiness or clinging to dryness.
Transfer: none that I notice (I usually use setting spray and setting powder if I’m doing a full face of makeup).
Irritation/fragrance: none.
Durability and value
It developed hard-pan once early last year. I lifted it with tape, which only slightly worked, but then I just kept using the same brush, and it ended up mostly disappearing. You might see a little in the picture around the corners of the pan, but my brush still picks it up without any issue.
I’m shocked that despite using it so frequently, taking it so many places, and using it down to the pan, the blush has never cracked or crumbled. It is one of the most durable powders I’ve used.
Tom Ford Soleil Sheer Cheek Duo Éclat Nu: used for almost 4 years (left) and unused (right). I may have bumped the top shade of the new one, since it definitely wasn’t smudged when I opened it.
Given that the blush has lasted almost 4 years without any issues, I find it to be worth the price (even with the price increase between the first and second time I purchased it).
Who this is for (and who it isn’t)
For:
Neutral undertones or anyone who frequently finds “cool” too cool and “warm” too warm.
Natural-looking makeup lovers.
Light-medium skintones - I’m not sure how well it would show up on darker skin tones since it is a relatively light blush.
People with some redness who want a blush that brightens without pulling red.
Anyone who prefers powder blush that blends fast, feels smooth, and doesn’t emphasize pores.
Not for:
People who want a true matte or glittery finish.
People who want very cool pinks or very warm corals.
People who want punchy, bright blushes with one‑tap, opaque pigment.
People who don’t like powder blushes or applying blush with a brush.
Final thoughts
For me, Tom Ford’s Éclat Nu is the perfect everyday blush. The color makes me look alive, healthy, and bright without fighting my undertone or my redness. It’s easy to use and consistently reliable, which is why it has become the blush I reach for every day.
Note: Tom Ford seems to have discontinued this blush, but I still wanted to write about it because it has been my daily blush for years. (I guess I have another 3-4 years to find a replacement before I run out.)
